What about Graduates?

Harrods Graduate Retail Programme 2009

At Harrods, we truly value our people and believe in offering in-depth training to help you achieve your full potential. The Graduate Training Scheme is an 18 month programme, divided into two parts. During the first 12 months you will learn the true art of selling at our Sales Academy, working on the shop floor as a Sales Assistant. For months 12-18, we will focus on developing your management skills, as part of our Harrods Management Programme.

"The art of selling"

The aim of the Harrods Sales Academy is to teach the art of selling. It is about exploring the skills required to not only offer service excellence, but to ensure that we make the sale - every time. This embodies what Harrods is truly about. We are about sales and exceptional service, and so it is important for all of our future managers to understand this, and really feel what it means to be out on the shop floor, serving our customers and making the sales.

The Harrods Sales Academy (First 12 months)

As a future manager joining the Harrods graduate programme you will be shop floor based as a Sales Associate, while studying on the Harrods Sales Academy during your first year, changing between different departments to learn the different styles of selling.

The Harrods Sales Academy is split into four stages covering the four main principles of selling: Effective Communication, Passion for Product, Confident Selling and Staying in Touch.

Each stage is supported with training modules, follow up exercises, and support from dedicated managers, coaches and mentors.

Harrods Management Programme (months 12-18)

The aim of the Harrods Management Programme is to accelerate trainees to first line management competency. Running for six months, the programme comprises of workshops, one-to-one coaching and course work.

While on the course, trainees will start to manage their teams on the sales floor; putting into practice what they have learnt in specialised workshops.

Upon completion of the Management Programme, the trainee will have the ability to progress into a management level position in selling, buying or in one of our numerous selling support functions.
